Male figures are rare in Early Cycladic sculpture and occur only in specific types (musicians, ‘hunters/warriors’ and a few examples of ‘Plastiras type’). The renowned male figure in the MCA, reputed to come from Amorgos, is one of the very few represented in the characteristic upright pose of the ‘canonical’ female figurines. It is also the only known male figure of monumental dimensions; its original height must have been about one metre.
