Marble figurines
Marble figurines
The figurines illustrated here, despite the difference in size, display similar proportions and common morphological traits: lyre-shaped head with long triangular nose, markedly sloping shoulders, slim arms, small breasts, incised waist, small pubic triangle, curvaceous buttocks. These similarities led some researchers to suggest that both figurines were made by the same ‘master’, who has been dubbed the ‘Goulandris Master’ because several of his creations are in the N.P. Goulandris Collection.
