‘Bachelors workers neighborhood’
In Greece, labor law and the right to form and join trade unions were established in the Constitution of 1975, which was voted obviously after the dam’s construction. However, the 1920s were marked by the propagation of ideas and by the political upheaval on an international level. The workers’ rights were a critical issue. From oral testimonies, we have been informed of the non-observance of the workers’' rights and the expression of complaints due to the withholding of part of their daily wage for the provision of their feeding and transportation. The press of the time cited that the workers tried to organize trade unions because of the heavy workload and the countless overtime without pay.
