Juglet
Juglet
This juglet is example of White-Painted Ware, a pottery style which is considered to have been produced mainly in northern Cyprus. The technique of painted decoration in red or black on a buff background appeared in Early Cypriot III and became particularly popular during the Middle Cypriot period. Juglets of this type –of relatively small dimensions, with globular body, tubular neck with cut-away spout or filling hole in the middle, and small handle of elliptical cross-section– were common in this style. They were probably used as perfumed oil containers and were exported in various sites in the Levant and the Nile Delta.
