The first Greek Constitution of 1844
Equality before the law, prohibition of slavery, inviolability of family life, freedom of expression and the press, protection of property, secrecy of letters and guarantee of the judge assigned by law are some of the rights established by the Constitution. It also established the first signs of parliamentary control of the government, the first foundations for the development of the parliamentary system and the election of Members of the Parliament using the majority system through universal and secret suffrage.
