Residents can boast of looking down on everyone else, since Arnados is located on a higher elevation (430m.) than any other village. The site offers unobstructed views towards the southern Cyclades. Narrow cobblestone lanes, the fountain, and the two wells in the upper square, as well as the arches, form a very picturesque atmosphere. The arches turn the village into a proper labyrinth. The villagers used them as an emergency exit to escape raiding pirates whenever necessary.
