The city of the seer
Ancient Aliartos
Over the course of the centuries, one ancient city of Boeotia left an indelible mark with its presence in the myths of the exiled Rhadamanthus, the mother of the hero Hercules, and the renowned seer Tiresias, while the minting of the first coins for the public of Boeotia safeguarded its power after the raids of the Persians, Spartans, and Romans. The temple to Athena bears witness to this day of continuous worship, standing at the top of the hill where once the splendor of ancient Aliartos unfolded.
