A Homeric city
Acropolis of Panopea
The father of the craftsman Epeius, who designed the Trojan Horse, gave his name to Panopea, the city through which the god Apollo himself passed through on his way to Delphi. At the peak of a legendary hill, a city was founded and flourished, with powerful stone guardians, from the 18th century B.C to 346 B.C., when it was destroyed by the Macedonian army of Phillip II. At present the square towers and parts of the walls still stand proudly, telling a story that lasted centuries.
