The wild landscape and the rocky mountains prevented the Ottomans from marking this area in their tax list and named the region Agrafa (meaning the unmarked). Agrafa is a mountain range of central Greece and in particular, it is the southernmost part of the Pindus range. The renowned ‘Sleeping Beauty’ of Agrafa is formed by the peaks Pente Pyrgi, Flitzani, Plaka, and Borlerlo, and constituted the trademark of this rough and mountainous region.
