The forest which, according to Homer, supplied the wood for the construction of the third masts of Greek ships in antiquity, the remnant of the Aenianian forest on the plain of Sperchios, covers an area of 250 acres and contains 17 kinds of trees. One of its entrances is located 22 kilometres from Lamia, on the road to Makrakomi, and leads visitors to a beautiful natural landscape.
