A tower in Moirochori
Karamichos Tower
Towers of the early 18th century were known as “koulies”. They followed Byzantine and medieval tradition, protecting residents from robbers or raiders in rural Ottoman administrative centers. Karamichos Tower is the only remaining tower in the region of Agios Georgios. According to the family that gave it its name, its first owner was an Ottoman nobleman. The tower has been declared a historical listed monument due to its unique architecture.
