In Kalambaka, between the mountains of Koziakas and Antichasia, light spreads out like a bright cloak over the giants that hold the monks’ homes on their peaks. 24 monasteries, of which only 6 are currently operating, stand witness to the stories of the first ascetics who built them in the 14th century. Wonderful murals, relics, and many other small craft items are kept within them, while more than one thousand manuscript codices survive in their archives.
