The city of Asclepius
Ancient Trikki
With the name of the nymph Trikki, daughter of the river Asopus or the river Pineios, ancient Trikki is mentioned by Homer as one of the cities that participated in the Trojan war with thirty ships, led by the sons of Asclepius, Machaon and Podalirius. Uninterruptedly populated from the Bronze Age to the present, it was part of the Thessalian tetrarchy of ancient Estiaiotis, while it stretched from the river Lethaios to ‘Kastro’ hill.
