One of the most important Asklepieions of antiquity recounts its stories, emerging from beneath the modern city of Trikala. One building with a gravel court, surrounded by stoas (perhaps the gymnasium), another with beautiful mosaics depicting mythical kings and forms of the Dionysian cycle, a Roman bath, and a small Byzantine church compose the multifaceted look so far of a great ancient hospital.
