Ring the bell
The Munt Tower
The Munt Tower was built between 1480 and 1487 and once belonged to the Regulierspoort, the medieval city wall that had two towers on each side and a gate giving access to the city. After the expansion of Amsterdam, the gate remained and was consumed by fire in 1616 wreaking havoc on the tower. The Munt tower was rebuilt in 1620 by Hendrick de Keyser. At the top of the tower, the clock features four sides and a carillon that consists of 38 bells ringing every 15 minutes.
