Off with their heads!
Green Park
Green Park is the only Royal Park in London without a lake or buildings. Located near the former St James's Hospital, it was initially used as a burial ground. Paths and walls were only laid out during the reign of Charles II. It is said that the park's bare style was the result of an argument between King Charles II, a notorious ladies' man, and his wife. When the Queen discovered he was picking flowers from the park on his way to meet his various girlfriends, she was very upset. In revenge, she ordered every single flower in the park to be removed, making it...very green! Green Park offers a lovely stroll to Piccadilly, another famous London street. You can actually quite easily walk through St James's Park, Green Park, and Hyde Park in relative peace, considering the traffic that passes through the area surrounding Buckingham Palace.
