The Telchines
Telchines Street
Triangle Square is the largest public space in the town of Akrotiri. The shape is delimited by the buildings that surround it. Triangle Square is also the beginning of Telchines Street, the main road of Akrotiri. It runs on a north-south axis and divides the town into two halves. The name is conventional, selected by Marinatos because many houses on either side of the street had metal workshops in the ground rooms. The Telchines were the children of Pontus and Gaia or Tartarus and Nemesis or were born from the blood of castrated Uranus. They were regarded as excellent metallurgists who made a trident for Poseidon and the infamous necklace of Harmonia that brought great misfortune to its owners.
