Queuing for flour
South house of Building Complex Delta
The South House of Building Complex Delta is right across from the Terrace of the Beds. It had two storeys and a total area of 535 square meters (5759 square feet). The entrance faces another public open space which is known as Millhouse Square. The door is impressive in its own right and has a window right next to it, a feature that is typical of houses in Akrotiri. The antechamber housed a mill installation that seems to have been a neighborhood focal point. It seems very likely that the workers prepared the flour and placed it in buckets for distribution to people queuing up outside the house. The staircase to the right of the antechamber gave access to a weaving workshop on the upper floor.
