The base of the salvage team
Building Complex Gamma
Building Gamma has been only partially excavated so few details as to its purpose, owners, or artefacts within its walls exist. We know it had a wooden staircase leading to the upper floor(s). More interesting is what we can glimpse of the building’s history after the final earthquake struck Akrotiri. A clay bathtub in one of the rooms was found placed on top of the rubble, probably by a salvage team working in the area. The main entrance seems to have been a makeshift intervention by the same team as part of an effort to use Building Gamma as a base for salvage and rebuilding operations. The ground-floor rooms were full of stone tools that may belong to the salvage team or the owners of workshops based here.
