Kesik Minaret Mosque
Still standing, the distinctive broken minaret is one of the remnants of the old Korkut Mosque. First the site of a Roman temple, the building was changed into a Byzantine church in the 7th century using the building blocks and material of the former place of worship. After the conquest of Antalya by the Seljuk Turks, the church was transformed into a mosque and the minaret was added. During a Christian re-conquest of Antalya, it once again became a church, until finally becoming a mosque again in 1423, the year Antalya became part of the Ottoman Empire. However, a devastating fire destroyed the Korkut Mosque in 1896. After three years of restoration work, the mosque was opened to worshipers once more in March 2021.
