Karaalioğlu Park
This seaside park is a green oasis covering 140,000 square metres near the port of Antalya and offering a view not only of the Mediterranean, but also the Beydağları Mountains. The area was home to a sericulture school and its orchard grounds until the 1930s. A decade later, local authorities decided to change the image of the area to create İnönü Park in 1943. Designed by the Turkish architect Necmettin Ateş, it was the result of collective effort from all the people of Antalya, even high school students! In the 1970s the park was renamed Karaalioğlu Park in commemoration of the landowner. The park's flora and fauna include common local species, while the three terraces offer a panoramic view of the coastline. The park features works by local sculptors such as the monument “Nazim Hikmet in Jail” which was created in 2010 on the 47th anniversary of the poet’s death, a statue of Don Quixote, the Worker and Son monument, the Hand sculpture, and the Frog sculptures.
