Museum of Cycladic Art
Museum of Cycladic Art
The Museum was founded in 1986 to house the private collection of Cycladic and ancient Greek art belonging to Dolly and Nicholas Goulandris. The Museum was designed by architect Ioannis Vikelas, who used white marble as the main material. At the back of the lobby of the main building is the Museum gift shop and cafe. We have now entered a very bright and welcoming space. The Museum boasts one of the most comprehensive private collections of Cycladic art in the world, with representative examples of the world-renowned Cycladic marble figurines. The permanent collections are exhibited on the four floors of the building. These include 3,000 objects of Cycladic, ancient Greek and ancient Cypriot art, testimonies of cultures that flourished in the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean from the 4th millennium BC into the 6th century AD. Nowadays, the Museum, in addition to the main building at 4 Neophytou Douka Str., has expanded to two additional wings: the Stathatos Mansion and the Dolly Goulandris Wing, at 2 Neophytou Douka Str.
