The Cyclades are a complex of many islands in the central and southern part of the Aegean Sea. The name is ancient and is mentioned by the historians Herodotus and Thucydides, the geographer Strabo and many other sources as being due to the circular arrangement around the sacred island of Delos. Naxos is the largest island in the archipelago. Kea, Kythnos, Serifos, Milos, Sifnos, Kimolos, Paros, Syros, Mykonos, Tinos, Andros, Delos, Thira (Santorini), Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros, Amorgos and Anafi are some of the Cycladic islands.
The Cyclades have a dry climate with a lot of sunshine and minimal rainfall. The Cycladic lands provide small areas for cultivation and livestock farming.
