Marble collared jar
Marble collared jar
The Cycladic people also made vessels and other utensils from marble. One of the most characteristic vessels was the collared jar. This vessel is 9 cm tall and has a rim diameter of 6.8 cm. It is open at the top and has a spherical body, neck and low base. There are handles all around and each has a hole, perhaps for a string to be passed for hanging from the roof beams. When the vase was found, some of the handles were broken.
