Photographer of monuments
Temple of Athena Nike
Konstantinos Athanasiou (1845-1898) came from Constantinople. He was a student and partner of Dimitrios Konstantinou. He moved to Athens in 1864 and specialised in depicting ancient monuments. His photographs were trendy among the Greeks and foreigners, making him an influential commercial photographer. His studio was in Athens, but his pictures were widely appreciated among the European archaeological community members. Two years before his death, he joined the photographers who photographed the first international modern Olympic Games in Athens (1896).
