Love Lane
Travessa da Paixão
Travessa da Paixão, better known as Passion Street or Love Lane, is famous for attracting people intent on falling in love, or expressing their love and affection with their partners. Obviously a popular location for couples to be photographed on their wedding day , it also commonly hosts Chinese Valentine’s Day celebrations. Also known as Double Seventh Festival because it is celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, this festival honors legendary lovers Zhinü and Niulang, a weaver girl and cowherd, whose romantic legend dates back to the Han Dynasty. Their love being forbidden, they were separated and only allowed to be together for one day, the Double Seventh day. Nowadays people celebrate by giving gifts and chocolates to their sweethearts, star gazing, and spending time in romantic locations, like Love Lane.
