The Aristophanous Street courtyard
The house in Psirri
Here Papadiamantis resided for twelve years. It was a courtyard with dilapidated buildings all around. The houses were very old, with rotten walls and often without windows. The tenants were poor and outcast single men, large families, or widows. In charge of all these people was matron-Giannaina, a widow with one daughter.
