Athens Olympic Museum
We welcome you to the Athens Olympic Museum where we explore the program “Listen to Our Story” developed in the framework of the project: “Agon, an Olympic Legacy”, with funding from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
The Athens Olympic Museum was founded in 2020 under the auspices of the Hellenic and International Olympic Committees. Our mission is to spread the philosophy of Olympism and to highlight Greece’s vital contribution to the formation of the Olympic Movement. The permanent exhibition tells the story of the Games and pays tribute to the Greek Olympic and Paralympic champions.
“Listen to Our Story” is a multisensorial exploratory experience, addressed to all visitors and in particular to persons with partial or total sight loss. It features 30 stories including descriptions of the museum space, the exhibition sections and selected museum exhibits. Along the floor, the tactile surface indicators mark the individual stories of the program and is accompanied by captions located to the right of each room’s entrance. Each caption includes Braille text and QR codes that are located upon a relief square and provide access to the audio descriptions. The program’s duration is two hours and includes audio descriptions and tactile representations that have been created to bring you into contact with the history of sports and the Olympic Games. Enjoy your tour!
