The Many Heteronyms of Fernando Pessoa
Casa Fernando Pessoa
In the building where the acclaimed Portuguese writer and poet lived his final years, between 1920 and 1935, Casa Fernando Pessoa was founded as a "home of poetry", dedicated to the work, life and memory of Lisbon’s greatest literary figure. The exhibition is organized on three different levels, in the form of chapters. The first of these is “the heteronyms”, where visitors are introduced to Fernando Pessoa’s innovative identity game: the creation of his multiple heteronyms, the 75 in total invented masks that turned into his most distinctive hallmark and a window into his genius.
