Cologne’s Cathedral is Germany’s most visited landmark, attracting more than 20,000 visitors per day. It stands at 157 meters tall thanks to its spectacular twin towers, making it the second tallest church in Europe, and third tallest in the world. The Cathedral serves as the base of the Archbishop of Cologne, and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 Though it dates way back as far as the late 1200s, this spectacular piece of Gothic architecture may be more renowned for how long it took to be completed – a total of more than 600 years!
