This is the place...
Matoyianni
...to see and to be seen. Welcome to the central artery of the Chora. This very short stretch of road condenses Mykonian extravagant spending and nightlife in less than a quarter of a mile. It is the main commercial street of Chora, with a multitude of high-end luxury brands maintaining their Mykonian branch in impossibly small, but terribly charming, locations. Some of the island's signature bars are also located at Matoyianni, making pub-crawls, if one were so inclined, insanely efficient as the next waterhole is literally next door. And don't be confused if despite the street signs referring to the name in the singular (Matoyianni), you hear locals use the plural "Ta Matoyiannia". It is not clear why this is the case, but it is a very common linguistic practice all over the Cycladic islands to change the names of things from singular to plural, from male to neutral, from female to male. Go figure.
