Enter the park at the Columbus Circle, using the “Merchant’s Gate” entrance at the junction of Eighth Avenue (Central Park West), Broadway and 59th Street (Central Park South). At the centre of the entryway, you will see the USS Maine National Monument with a gilded bronze sculpture of Columbia Triumphant affixed to the top. Go to the left of the monument and head straight until you reach West Drive. Take a left and continue down this road for five minutes. Then, you will pass Heckscher kickball and softball fields to your right. Continue past them, down West Drive. You will then reach Dalehead Arch, a large sandstone and brownstone bridge. Continue down West Drive and in another five minutes you will find Sheep Meadow on your right.
