Monodactylus argenteus
Sea plants
Monodactylus argenteus or Butter bream (Monos) is very common in estuaries and lagoons, where it reproduces. It also lives in the sea, mainly in shallow coves and near ports. Many times, we meet them in herds consisting of several hundred. It feeds on fish, shrimp, zooplankton, and various small invertebrates. It begins its life in fresh water but gradually turns to brackish water growing up, to reach adulthood.
