The myth of the beautiful nymph Arethusa and her fountains surrounds the Archeological museum of “Arethusa”, which was founded at the beginning of 2016, and housed in an industrial building from the beginning of the 20th century, at the old ‘Arethusa A.E’ distillery factory. The aim of the permanent exhibition, which unfolds in four thematic stages, is the presentation of the state organization, the economy, the religion and the cultural identity of Euboea and Skyros, from prehistoric years up to the creation of the New Greek State. Ultimately, the Archeological Museum aims to be open to visitors and gradually become a place for communication and dialogue.
