The residence of Theseus and Antiope
Archaeological Museum of Eretria
The Archeological Museum of Eretria contains finds from the Bronze Age up to Roman times, coming from Lefkanti, Eretria and Amarynthos, and covering a wide chronological range. A broad range of subjects such as ceramics, sculpture, armour etc., present an informative image of the area in ancient times. Notable positions are occupied by the group of sculptures of Theseus and Antiope, from the western pediment of the temple of Apollo Daphnephoros, the clay statuette of the Centaur from Lefkanti, which is the most ancient impression of this mythical creature, as well as the embossed bronze horse blinker from Syria, and amphoras with Panathenaic scenes.
