The impenetrable red castle of twilight
Castello Rosso
At the hour that the sun seems to hold the sea under its spell, one of the most well-known medieval castles of Euboea, bathes in the rich colours of the stone it is constructed of. Originally built by the Lombards who were feuding in the area, it drew Byzantines, Franks and Venetians to it during the Frankish period. Castello Rosso, treading on the foot hills of Ochis, stretches its grandiose stature upwards, while seeming to simultaneously tell us the story of the love of the knight Likarios and the Venetian noble lady Feliza.
