The oracle of the god of light and music
The Apollo Temple
The first temple of Apollo was built by his worshipers in a prominent position, using only laurel branches. Another one followed it, made of bee wax and feathers, and a third one after that, made of bronze, while the ancient myths mention that the fourth one was a creation of the architects Trophonius and Agamedis, built with the guidance of the god himself. Time and time again, fire and earthquakes destroyed the Apollo oracle, where his brother Dionysus was also worshiped, and every time a national request for aid provided the funds for another reconstruction. A Doric pavilion with sculptured decoration worthy of its global fame and radiance, the temple held the statues and offerings dedicated to the god, as well as the Pythionic records (the prophesy records office), while within its sanctuary the prophecies of Pythia were made.
