Gilaki Synagogue
The Gilaki Synagogue opened in 1896 and was built by local architect Hillel Ben Chaim, whose name is inscribed on the brick facade. A distinctive external feature is the narrow octagonal drum with a dome on the roof. The synagogue has 12 windows in accordance with the number of Israeli tribes. The bimah is made in the form of a two-tiered octahedral podium with steps, on which there is a massive pulpit for reading the Torah scroll. The bimah is situated under a wooden dome.
