The Agababayev family
Aghababayev's house
The Agababyevs were one of the founding families of Red Village’s Gilaki neighbourhood. Several generations later, the brothers Nuvakh, Ikhiil and Asaf, grew up as carpet experts, carpets being a famous product of the Guba region. Asaf became a successful carpet trader and travelled to Turkey and Iran. He owned several houses in Guba. The Agababayevs had water and electricity in their homes, which was rare for that time. They also had a large garden on the outskirts of the town. During the Soviet era, their property and land were confiscated.
