The thermal baths and a Responsa
Kretchenev- Hassidic hub
Kretchnev is also known for its thermal baths that were built at the beginning of the 20th century and originally, they were designated as ritual baths for the Jewish community. A building with cabins and bath tubs and a 2000 l water tank made possible for people to take 30-35 hot baths daily. The first Rabbi in Kretchnev is considered to be Rabbi Yosef Yoel Deutsch. He left behind a large number of written manuscripts, but only one was published after his death. The responsa Yad Yosef, on the four sections of Shulchan Aruch, was published in Sighet in 1874, and that can be seen in the Elie Wiesel Museum from Sighet.
