From among the many scholars in Ieud, several became renown beyond the village. One example of the many scholars that contributed to the village scholarship is Rabbi Yechezkel Widman employed by the community as Rabbi. When he lived in Ieud, he began to edit the Degel HaTorah, the publication of the Yeshiva from Vişeu. One example of a responsa to him from Ieud presented the following situation: Responsa Imre Yosher, regarding the question from a certain poor man who had a beehive. During the hot season when they are reproduced and multiplied, the bees would gather together and an entire swarm would suddenly separate from their main nest. Sometimes they would take hold of a branch of a tree. If they would not be gathered quickly (in less than 4 hours), they would escape and be completely lost. The man was asking the Rabbi if this was to happen on the Shabbat, would it be permitted to order a gentile to gather them?
