The Radziwiłł Palace, situated on the northern side of the square, was the site of another important event in the history of the Polish state. On 7 November 1918, Prime Minister Ignacy Daszyński announced here the formation of the first Polish government after Poland had regained independence, following 123 years of political non-existence.
