Behind the market we can see tenement houses built in the second half of the 19th century. In one of them, adjacent to the New Marketplace, lived an eminent Hasidic theologian Josef Tzadok Rabinovitz (1813-1900), also known as Tzadok ha-Kohen. Here begins the newer part of the Jewish quarter, which avoided being destroyed during World War II, although it was included in the ghetto.
