Place where Jakub Glatsztejn's house used to be - at former Jateczna Street
Miejsce gdzie był dom Jakuba Glatsztejna
Jacob Glatstein (1896-1971), an outstanding Yiddish poet and writer, was born in the house at 25 Jateczna Street. Although he emigrated from Lublin to New York in 1914, he referred to the town of his youth in his writing all his life. His literary works include two novels describing his journey to Lublin in the 1930s, and he titled one of his last collections of poems, published in 1966, A Yid fun Lublin (or A Jew from Lublin). A plaque commemorating the poet has been placed on the site where his house once stood.
