Mural przy ulicy Lubartowskiej 49
The side wall of the building at the intersection of Targowa, Lubartowska and Ruska Streets (47 Lubartowska Street) bears a quote referring to the situation of isolation and confinement of Jews in the ghetto. It comes from a novel "Le sel et le soufre" (in English “salt and sulphur”) based on personal experiences from the war, written by Anna Regina Langfus (née Szternfinkiel) (1920-1966). The writer was born and raised in an adjacent house at 24 Lubartowska Street. In 1962, she received the prestigious Goncourt Prize for her book "Les bagages de sable" (Baggage from the Sand). She has taken up the subject of the "disease of war" and the pain of Survivors trying to return to normal life after the trauma.
