Trade within the community
Corner of Sant Sever and Carrer B.Adret
During the Crown of Aragon, merchant Jews had an important role in the economy of the Catalan territories, having major influence on Mediterranean trade. Barcelona, alongside Majorca, and Valencia, was a major port. They extended their commercial trade through the Mediterranean to Italy, from Sardinia, Sicilia, Crete and Athens, to Turkey and Alexandria. Other important trades within the Jewish community were making and dyeing of silk, prominently for scarves, artisan coral products, such as buttons or jewelry, shoe makers and more.
