"General Zajączek’s Entry to Lublin" mural painting - Zamojska Street
Mural "Wjazd generała Zajączka do Lublina" - ulica Zamojska
Zamojska Street, marked out in 1815, with beautiful yet dilapidated houses erected at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, begins beyond the bridge. A big mural has been placed on a side wall of the building at number 47, presenting a copy of a fragment of General Zajączek’s Entry to Lublin, a painting created in 1826 and featuring a panorama of the city at the time, seen from Zamojska Street.Another history of Zamojska street is connected to an unusually powerful tornado, which swept through Lublin on 20 July 1931, destroying buildings, tearing off roofs, blowing over factory chimneys, and carrying away people and vehicles. The press of the time reported that the wind had lifted a droshky from Zamojska Street driven by Josek Bergman, along with the horses and the passengers, and had thrown it down at the premises of a nearby factory. The unfortunate coachman died on the spot.
