A church or a theater?
The Holy Cathedral of Agia Triada
The first church of Agia Triada was founded in 1839 on a piece of land that belonged to the monastery of Agios Spyridon (one of the few buildings in Piraeus before the Greek War of Independence in 1821). The construction was completed in 1844, and there were serious problems. The church orientation was wrong, the bell tower was poorly built, and the building lacked side windows (it was therefore too dark in the winter and too hot in the summer). Within a few years there were cracks on the walls and extensive repairs were carried out. Overall the edifice resembled a theater rather than a church.
