One of the most important monuments of the Greek region, from the Middle Byzantine artistic era, Osios Loukas is located in the western foothills of Mount Elikonas, close to the Acropolis of ancient Steirida. The monastery complex, including two temples, the temple of Holy Mary and the Catholic which is dedicated to the holy Mother of Christ, the Saint Barbara crypt, and a multitude of buildings, is listed in the monument catalogue of the World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, as one of the best examples of human creative genius, a precious testament to our cultural tradition.
