Old Market Woman Marble (Gallery 162)
Continue down the main corridor of the Greek and Roman Art wing toward the large atrium, the Leon Levy and Shelby White Gallery, which is divided from this hall via a colossal Ionic-style column. The column was originally part of a larger structure, the Temple of Artemis in Sardis (modern Turkish city Sart). Once you've entered the atrium, look to your right. You will see the Hellenistic sculpture, the ‘Old Market Woman,’ to your right among the many sculptures decorating this sunlit space. The title goes a long way toward identifying this work.
